With more than 1,000 bus drivers across the city striking, Auckland roads will be severely congested and moving slowly as last night’s rain hampers drivers’ efforts of getting into the office on time.
While many employees – and employers – may turn up to the office a little late or lacking in enthusiasm, Metservice forecaster Lisa Murray offered a sliver of a silver lining.
"The commute home [in the evening] should be better," she soothed.
More than 1,000 NZ Bus drivers and 89 Howick & Eastern drivers will be involved in the strike, coordinated as part of union industrial action over wages and conditions for drivers.
The strike, which started today at 4am, will continue until Saturday at 4am.
