The 17-year-old was airlifted to hospital where he is in a stable condition after suffering serious pelvic injuries.
A serious workplace accident occurred on the waters between Auckland and Waiheke this morning after one young worker was crushed while on a SeaLink ferry.
"WorkSafe was notified about an incident involving a worker getting caught between two vehicles on a Waiheke ferry,” confirmed a representative from the government service. "According to initial information it happened on board the ferry,” they added.
Reports indicate that the 17-year-old was standing by a van when he was seriously injured as a truck was moving off the ferry – he was airlifted to Auckland City Hospital where he is in a stable condition despite suffering pelvic injuries.
The accident is reported to have happened just after 8.15am at Kennedy Pt in Surfdale.
