Fonterra appoints new HR chief

Following the resignation of its previous HR chief in November, Fonterra has promoted an internal candidate to a newly created role of Managing Director of People, Culture and Strategy.

Fonterra Co-operative Limited has announced the appointment of Maury Leyland to the newly created role of Managing Director of People, Culture and Strategy.

Leyland was previously the company’s Groups Director of Strategy. She will now lead an integrated function comprising Fonterra’s People and Culture and Group Strategy functions.

Fonterra’s previous Managing Director of People Culture and Services, Chris Caldwell, resigned in November citing personal reasons.

Leyland has been with Fonterra since 2005, and has worked across the supply chain and playing an integral part in Trading Among Farmers and Fonterra’s Value Stream Optimisation programme.

She is also a Director of Telecom New Zealand and a Fellow of the Institution of Professional Engineers of New Zealand.

Her appointment was effective January 1, 2014.
