Once you’ve drawn the top talent to your workplace, employers have another job entirely in ensuring that they stay.
A report from Kronos and Future Workplace found that 87% of HR leaders consider employee retention as a primary concern in their organizations.
That being said, how well do you know what your employees crave? A recent report from totaljobs found that two in three workers have walked because of a sheer lack of development opportunities.
Nine in ten of the employees interviewed admitted that they wanted their employer to offer more training courses, with two out of three citing is as much more important now than it was two years ago.
“We are often told by employers of all shapes and sizes that they need skilled employees to fill difficult roles – and they are struggling to find them,” added David Clift, HR Director at totaljobs.
Of the almost 100 employers interviewed, 87% said they actively encourage their employees to glean some professional qualifications – with 81% agreeing their staff work better after intensive training. What’s more, 48% of candidates think employers should team up with universities to better inform jobseekers looking to take the next step.
“This research shows, that there is a keen workforce looking to upskill and improve,” added Clift, “so new skills and talents may well be right under their nose. It’s safe to say that training and development is a key area companies need to focus on, it’s a win-win for all.”
