Which Kiwi companies have made the best employers list?

Four New Zealand businesses have been announced as accredited Best Employers at the Aon Hewitt Best Employer Awards. So which companies earned the accolade?

Four Kiwi companies are now accredited as the country’s top employers following last night’s Aon Hewitt Best Employer awards in Sydney.

Chorus, Frucor Beverages, FedEx Express and DHL Express, were named as Best Employers for 2014 after entering Aon Hewitt’s annual trans-Tasman Best Employer Survey.

The annual Aon Hewitt Best Employers survey, which has been running since 2001, examines the people practices of organisations.  Companies found to have the highest levels of employee engagement and outstanding people practices are then accredited as Aon Hewitt Best Employers.
Alison Hall, Talent and Rewards, Aon Hewitt NZ, said Chorus, Frucor Beverages, FedEx Express and DHL Express all demonstrated high engagement levels.

“These organisations are committed to receiving honest and accurate feedback on how well they are engaging their employees. Even when their scores show exceptional engagement, they are still listening and looking to see exactly how they are achieving that and where and how they might improve on their performance,” she said.

Hall added that 120 companies completed the survey, both here and in Australia, this year with only 16 gaining accreditation.

“Some companies don’t know why they would undertake the survey if there’s no guarantee of accreditation. But that’s exactly why the best companies do it,” Hall said. “They’re not doing it for a pat on the back. They are sincerely interested in a culture of engagement that is vertically aligned from the CEO all the way down. They understand that engagement ultimately positively influences their profit margins.”

The 2014 Aon Hewitt Best Employers are (in alphabetical order):
Bristol-Myers Squibb, Chorus New Zealand Ltd, DDLS, DHL Express (New Zealand) Limited, FedEx Express (New Zealand), Fiat Chrysler, Frucor Beverages New Zealand, Hilti (Aust.) Pty Ltd, National Transport Insurance, Peoplebank Australia Limited, Select Solutions, Smartsalary Pty Ltd, Starlight Children’s Foundation, STIHL Pty Ltd, Swinburne Online, Wood & Grieve Engineers.

National Transport Insurance (NTI) was awarded the coveted title of Best of the Best status for 2014.
