How hard is it to fire people? Check out where New Zealand ranks in the world

by |
Spare a thought for HR directors in Turkey, where it can be more difficult than any other developed country to get rid of a worker. That’s information gathered from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s employment outlook analysis last year.

New Zealand ranks second lowest on the list of 34 countries.Coming in at the top is the United States, where protections for employees are extremely low – for better or for worse, depending on where you lie on the political spectrum. And though it may seem like the dearth of protections make it easier to do HR in the US, it’s vital to remember that US HR professionals have things like medical insurance to organise that most other governments already provide for their residents.
